About Crop Circles - The spiritual aspect

We live in the Age of Information. It is said we get more information each day than a man in the Victorian age managed to gather in twenty years and infinitely more than people who lived 2,000 years ago acquired in a lifetime.

Information can lead to knowledge but is not the same thing. It comes and goes, only making an impression when it fully engages our attention. Knowledge is born of experience and becomes so ingrained in us we can never forget it whereas information is easily lost.

Knowledge, if put into practice in our daily life, can lead to understanding. When, from experience, we truly know something deep down, it is as if we 'stand under' it;  in other words, we know the truth of it from the inside out.

Applying this understanding in our daily lives may lead to wisdom. We can be wise in certain areas and foolish in others. Spiritual knowledge is needed in order to grow in understanding.

The word 'spiritual' is often confused with 'sentimental' or 'religious' but the root of the word is from spirit, the essence of life, not from sentiment or religion. It has to do with the development of our inner being, our life force, our true nature.  Proponents of traditional spiritual paths, such as Zen Masters, Samurai warriors, followers of the Tao and other traditions could hardly be seen as sentimental people.  They follow a path of spirit which is precise and arduous.

Crop circles use spiritual symbols to express metaphysical principles (from meta, Greek for: that which is beyond, or behind, or at the source of - in this case, the physical). Metaphysical concepts are not something we learn at school or can grasp with our logical mind.  Rather, they address the spirit at the core of our inner being. There has to be some resonance inside ourselves for the connection to be made. We can only re-cognise something when we know (cognise) it already.

Crop circles charm us by their beauty and when we start to look at them more closely they begin to reveal the knowledge contained in their geometry, their advanced mathematics and their reference to ancient symbols.  Grappling with crop circle symbols can open the doors to spiritual understanding; it is a profoundly transformative process that gradually alters the way we view reality. They have the potential to change our inner vision and when that happens, everything outside in the material world also begins to change as ultimately our outer world is but the reflection of our inner one.
